June 8ths Primal Rage was an event packed full of excitement. The afternoon started with Ari’s
gravely voice introducing the competitors who qualified for the inaugural Odyssey Cup:
The Rebel Storm vs Joey Lancaster
Cam Gates vs Jake Redondo
Jake Maze vs CJ Tino
Tariq Tarvos vs J2 Mattioli
Alongside the hopefuls for the Odyssey Cup, we got a non-title match between Jeramiah Fresh
and Cameron August. The Pumpline put their tag titles on the line against the Lucha Kings to
send the fans home.
Rebel Storm brought his best out against The Crown Jewel of Professional Wrestling. In only his
second singles match since his return, Storm showed no signs of rust. Joey directed his
henchmen to make sure things went his way. Fighting a 3-on-1 match is never an easy task but
Rebel storm never shied away.Lancaster’s Gooner squad ended up being the deciding factor
though. Joey hit his sit out facebuster for the win.
Cam Gates shimmied his way to the ring with his usual vigor and Jake Redondo brought his
SoCal swagger to the building. Redondo is the larger competitor but what Cam Gates lacks in
height he makes up for with aggression. The Radiant Son found a way to survive Gates’
creative offense and used his Final Cut to seal the W.
Jeramiah Fresh strolled to the ring to remind us why he’s the forever champ. Tariq Tarvos
accompanied him while Fresh took to the mic to put his support behind Tarvos to win the
Odyssey Cup. Cameron August was undeterred by the champion’s words. He bounded to the
ring making sure to grab the attention of a few women at ringside. Fresh interrupted his fun by
attacking him before the music even ended. The only Heartless King made his intentions clear.
He dominated the match, attempting to turn August’s knee ligaments to linguine. It was a noble
effort but Jeramiah Fresh had his hand raised in victory after applying a Figure 4 Leg-lock.
Jake Maze debuted a new look against his old mentor and even showed off a new Styles Clash.
CJ Tino survived the clash and the New Japan Strong Survivor was able to suplex his way back
into the bout. Over the course of the match both men seemed to know what the other was
thinking. Eventually Maze squeaked out a victory with some help from the ropes during his pin.
Tariq Tarvos ignored the orders of commissioner Orion Odyssey and came to the ring with J
Fresh. I guess you can do what you want when the champ is in your corner. The Playmaker
took his time entering the ring. He crooned along with the Weeknd but Tarvos didn’t seem to be
in the mood for a song. He put a stop to it and started the match on his own terms. The two
Primal titans battled back and forth. The ref wasn’t even safe from the power of these two
competitors. Once the dust cleared J2 stood tall in the center of the ring.
If Primal Rage were a fine meal then our main event was a decadent dessert. The Pumpline
defended their tag titles against the visiting Lucha Kings. The crowd made it known that they
were happy to see royalty back in the Primal Compound. Boa and El Rey started off the match
with a flurry of back and forth maneuvers. Both teams went blow for blow trying to maintain
control of the ring. The champs prioritized keeping the Kings from using their time-tested aerial
offense. The Lucha Kings had the crowd behind them but The Pumpline was able to remind the
crowd who holds gold at 2050 Wilson Ave. From the cheers we heard i don’t think this is the last
time Bamboo and El Rey will go for gold between these orange ropes.
Come see us next time on June 22nd 2025 to witness the Odyssey Cup finals.
